Seamus and Fall Colors

Last week I harvested all my zinnias because there was a risk of frost, and I didn't want to lose all the marvelous color before I had to.  The colored glass in the South window showed off the zinnias quite vividly in the Fall afternoon sun.  Seamus and I had a little photo shoot just for fun.

Autumn Colors

Last week I cleaned up the garden - and just in time!  The frost hit really hard the next evening, and everything would have been toast.  I brought in seven bell peppers, a bowl of tomatoes (a bag of green ones are still reddening up in the pantry), a crisper full of carrots, a dozen pumpkins, and seven cucumbers.  The last harvest.  In some ways, it really saddens me to say, "The last harvest", because I will miss watching my garden grow, and I will miss eating fresh garden produce.  But alternately I feel a little relieved to have it all cleaned up and gladdened that we got through a successful season, and now get the rest Winter necessitates.  Oh how hard work pays off: in fruitful harvests, and glad rest.

Down Home Summer

Summer looks a lot like this, this year.
Bike riding,
garden/jungle adventures,
zinnias (my new favorite - yes they have usurped the sweet pea in the "just for looks category" although nothing can surpass sweet peas for "scent"),
grass and sand in everybody's pants!

It's a beautiful summer on roadrunner bay.

Them's the Perks: January in Manitoba

8:41am sunrise through the south window.

The beginnings of frostbite on rosy cheeks.

What yoga looks like at my house some days.

Gorgeous long sunsets.

Sun in the windows while race cars drive near the lentils.

Beautiful Light

When we are fully in Summer the sun does not shine through the glass in my South window.  It's too high in the sky.  So even though I grieve the end of Summer, I am once again in love with Fall, and all it's colors.

Successfully reaching out and grabbing!
Last night we introduced Seamus to the jolly jumper.  Luke is thrilled with the new activity.  Seamus is thrilled to have Luke's attention, and hasn't noticed yet that he can bounce; he just spins in circles watching Luke and laughing.
