You Be Thankful

This is a reminder to all moms out there, and maybe to myself, that you should just be thankful for the times when you left the room for a few moments to talk on the phone, visit with your husband, get dressed, eat a chocolate by yourself, or (heaven forbid!) pee with the door closed  and when you returned you did NOT find your children running and sliding on the laminate floor through a massive pool of water which appeared to have come from the Brita pitcher left on the dining room table.  Yes.  Be thankful.

Be thankful that you did not come back to find your four-year-old son licking the last of the chocolate cake off the carving knife.  yes.

Be thankful you did not come back to find your baby standing on the back of the couch while his brother egged him on saying, "Jump! Jump! Jump!". Yes.

Be thankful you did not come back to find the fridge door open and both boys standing inside with every single slice of individually wrapped cheese unwrapped and partially eaten, smashed into every viewable surface.  Yes.

Be thankful you did not come back to find your littlest sitting on top your eldest while they both screamed at the top of their voice, "Gettoffmee!!"  Yes.

Be thankful you did not come back to find all the windows open on a minus 40 degree afternoon, with both children standing in the middle of the living room in their underwear.  Yes.

Be thankful you did not come back to find the baby holding a glass coffee pot half full of hot coffee.  Yes.

Be thankful you did not come back to find my children in place of your own.  Yes.  You be thankful.
